Evaluation Powerpoint

Evaluation

Originally we intended to have dialogue, a wider variety of shots and an overall longer sequence but we decided to focus on the editing techniques and camerawork because we think this played to our strengths.

1st Shoot

For the first shoot Franklin was the director, Petros was the cinematographer and I responsible for the props used on set.
We used two of our friends , Angus & Samuel, to play our characters, they suited the descriptions that we had in mind.

2nd Shoot

On the second time of filming i took on the role of the cinematographer, Franklin was the director again and Petros was forced to act due to one of the actors not showing up, as we decided he fitted the description the best. The benefit of this was that we were more focused on the task in hand and there were less distractions.

3rd Shoot

On the 3rd and final shoot Petros and I acted and directed with Franklin also directing but also controlling the camera. We were much more organsied and completed the work to a higher standard than the previous shoots.

Editing & Sound

As Franklin and Petros stuck to strong point of editing, I used my knowledge of music to create the atmosphere in our film such as the sound effect when are title jumps. I also created the soundtrack for the film menu on soundtrack pro and also during the film.

After shooting the 1st two times we decided to organize ourselves and not rely on other people.
We evenly distributed the tasks when it came to producing our film and create our evaluation powerpoint.

Location Pictures

Third and Final Location
These are the pictures of our final location. It is the best location because it is very secluded, and we were not distracted by the outside world.

Second Location
This location suited the type of setting we wanted, it was remote and secluded and fitted the mise-en-scene we had in mind very well. The lighting was good and there was space for the camera equipment. After filming we decided that the shots and camera-work was not up to a good enough standard so as a group decided to re-shoot and use another location which luckily was even better.

First location
This was the first location we filmed in, we encountered some problems like it not being remote enough and our ability to film at different times of the day because of lighting and also members of the public coming into shot.

Script

This is the first draft of our script, close to the time for filming, we decided that we should not have any dialogue at all so focused on trying tell the story through the editing and camera-work and build tension that way.

Characters, Props, Equipment

Our characters, Josh and Darren are teenagers of different backgrounds.
Josh who is wealthy and private schooled, and the other, Darren who lives on an estate with his parents who receive benefits.

During our first two attempts at filming we found we were quite disorganised so encountered some problems like actors not showing up, footage not being up to standard and also some members of the cast being on a tight schedule.

On the third and final attempt Petros and i, both members of our group, had to appear in the film. Although we got the filming finished to a higher standard, the change in cast resulted in us having to adapt the traits of the original characters that we had in mind, so therefore the costumes weren't correct and the actors had completely changed.
